The Fruits of Decay (2025)

In nature, decay is a necessary and productive process that enables the recycling of nutrients in an ecosystem. Through this process, otherwise unrelated organisms are brought into relation with one another. In my piece, I have sought to bring the initial musical materials to far-removed results through processes of liquidation, exploring the extent to which forms of “decomposition”, so to speak, can animate a sense of flow.

The Fruits of Decay was first performed on 7 February 2025 in Vilinius, Lithuania, by the ContemPLAY ensemble conducted by Nicholas Kuhn, as part of the ContemPLAY festival.
